Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic singer, composer and performer. The singer combines jazz from the soul genre with R&B for a distinctive blend. She's appeared on Broadway and at the Democratic National Convention and in European festivals and clubs. Sunshine's birth name is Denise White. Her birthplace is Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her career in music by performing on the piano as well as singing in church. Following her graduation from Spellman College, Atlanta she began her music career on Atlanta's R&B musical scene. Since then, it has been remixed, and it is now a part of her set. Her voice has also been a part of voices on The Fighting Temptations' soundtrack. In 2005, she was commissioned as the keyboardist principal for Tyler Perry's stage musical Meet the Browns. In 2007, Grammy and Tony award-winning singer Jennifer Holliday sought her out for the role of director of choral for the theatrical production of Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine gained national recognition during four daily performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was then invited to sing at the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
